The Music Box

Once upon a time, in a quiet forest, lived a clever fox. He was known far and wide for his cunning tricks. One day, the fox met a proud peacock by the river. The peacock boasted about his colorful feathers. The fox smiled and said, 'Beauty fades, but wit stays.' Feeling insulted, the peacock challenged the fox. They decided to have a contest of cleverness. The peacock asked, 'What weighs nothing but can break a heart?' The fox answered, 'A promise.' Impressed, the peacock nodded silently. Then it was the fox's turn to ask a riddle. He asked, 'What grows when shared and dies when hidden?' The peacock thought hard and replied, 'Love.' The fox clapped his paws, 'You're smarter than you look!' The peacock laughed, 'You're kinder than you speak!' From that day, they became unlikely friends. They met each morning to share stories and riddles. The forest animals gathered to listen and learn. Even the grumpy bear smiled during their tales. One stormy evening, the fox got caught in the rain. The peacock offered shelter under his wide feathers. 'Thank you,' the fox said, shivering. 'That's what friends are for,' said the peacock. They huddled together until the storm passed. The moon smiled above the forest canopy. The next day, the sun rose brighter than ever. Their friendship became legend among the trees. Old owls spoke of the clever fox and proud peacock. Little squirrels played riddles in their honor. The forest was never the same again. And so, the story of wit and pride lives on.
